With Krispy Kreme!

Yes, I know you want to lick your screen now…

Santa dropped these in my fridge last night

A dozen goodness inside

Visit: Krispy Kreme Doughnuts

Avocado

Avocado, not a fruit that most people would consume frequently. It looks exotic and doesn’t really have that fruity taste. But recently I had a new found love for Avocado + Mango juice, despite being told by SOMEONE that it will make me fat, I still love it! Did some research and found out that the fat is actually the good type, monounsaturated fat, and it contains loads of other goodies as well:

  • Contain oleic acid, a monounsaturated fat that may help to lower cholesterol
  • Good source of potassium, a mineral that helps regulate blood pressure
  • One cup of avocado has 23% of the Daily Value for folate, a nutrient important for heart health
  • Great antioxidants, good for complexion
  • Great source of dietary fibre, hence, will aid healing for people suffering from digestive and circulatory problems
  • Vitamins K, B6 and C.

…and more!

It’s also known to increase one’s Manhood abilities.

So next time you visit your favourite fruits stall, ask for a Avocado + Mango (or any fruit you fancy) juice :)

*Caution: Please consume in moderation. Avocado is high in calories. Too much, of anything, is still unhealthy.

Of Family and Unagi

Left school at around 6pm yesterday, took the train down to Somerset to meet up with my cousins and aunts for dinner at Sakura Orchard. Long ride.. But luckily I have HotFudge - South Park is damn power! Anyway I was there early, so I went to visit Roxanne. Before long.. it was dinner time.!

The stuffs are more or less the same, but I find that the food quality and freshness is lower as compared to the Safra Tampines branch. But…..I still love their Japanese Unagi (Kabayaki)! Skewers after skewers of unagi…yuummmmmm.. Food aside, I really enjoyed the company of my cousins, joking around, making a fool of them and myself, catching up with each other. Great times.

After dinner, the young ones went to catch a movie - The Departed. It’s a Hollywood version of the Hong Kong hit Infernal Affairs. I don’t know about the others, but I enjoyed the movie. Jack Nicholson is simply amazing.. Watching him alone, makes the ticket worth. Lots of gore, blood splashing around and the F word practically became a noun, verb, adjective, pronoun in the movie.

Dewei says: Cherish and appreciate the moments of happiness in life, they don’t come often.

Till next time!

Botak Jones

Today my cousins, his friends and I went to check out the much hyped Botak Jones. For the uninitiated, Botak Jones is a neighbourhood All American Food chain. Their flagship stall is at Tuas Industrial area, and they have 2 branches, Ang Mo Kio and Clementi. According to them, they serve quality all American food in American sizes at very afforable prices. (which is true).

So we went to the Clementi outlet. And these are what we ordered:

[From left] The Double Botak: 2 x 150g of beef patties topped with melted cheddar cheese. The Double Botak (alt view). The U-CRAZY-WHAT?! burger: 3 x 150g juicy beef patties topped with melted cheddar cheese.

[From 2nd left] Cajun Chicken Plate. US Smoked Turkey Sausage: One foot long willy.

Mango Sago with Pomelo

Today’s weather was exceptionally good. Slight overcast, cooling and best of all, not humid. Anyway, met my little Brother for some dessert hunting after I saw the feature on TV. It’s along Chinatown’s Temple street at a shop called Wei Xiang Yuan.

Their signature dessert: Mango Sago with Pomelo.

The mango puree is smooth and full of the wonderful mango frangrance. (The reason being that the stall owners used Honey Mango from Thailand). However, the dessert is not too sweet such that it will make one “gilard” after a few spoonfuls. The sago and especially the pomelo add flavour and nice texture to the dessert. The slight sourness of the pomelo also complements the mango’s sweetness, good balance. Totally worth the 3 bucks.

Out of curiosity, my Brother and I decided to try another of their dessert: Egg Pudding /w Ginger. Both of us agree that it’s an acquired taste. It tastes like chawanmushi but with more of the raw egg taste and sweeter. Luckily we got the one with ginger… else I don’t think I can down pass 2 spoons. Not my kind of dessert.

I highly recommend the Mango Sago with Pomelo, skip the Egg Pudding.

Location: Mei Heong Yuen Dessert - 67 Temple Street

My Lunch for today

Fusilli in Creamy Mushrooms & Herbs with sausages

How to prepare:

1) Go to to your nearest NTUC grab a bag of Fusilli (or any kind of pasta), and a bottle of Dolmio Creamy Mushroom & Herb sauce

2) Get a pot, add some salt and 4 litres of water to every 500g of pasta (the salt is to increase the boiling point of the water, so that the pasta cooks faster).

3) Heat a little oil in a pan, cut up some sausages and stir fry.

4) Pour the sauce into the pan, cover and simmer gently for 3 minutes. Add dash of pepper if you want.

5) Pour the sauce over the cooked pasta.

6) Garnish with lots of Parmesan cheese!
