Went roller-blading with my cousins today! All of us, except for Gina, know nuts about in-line skating! Anyway, today the weather couldn’t have been better, bright and sunny! Managed to find a dirt cheap rental shop: $6 for 2 hours including all the equipments.

I think I fell the most number of times hahah. My butt kinda hurt now. And so all of us noobs struggled to propel ourselves forward without falling and looking glam at the same time, it’s kinda impossible task at that point of time hahah. And yeah.. we got lots of sniggers from young kids, and (worst) from hot babes… ARghh!! Maybe today’s a wrong day to go blading, should have gone on weekdays, where there’s not much peole. It’s actually fun sport, once you get the hang of it. My Bro’s quite good at it man hahah kudos to him! Anyway, it was very fun!

After a quick shower, we head down for Granny’s place for the BBQ. It’s become our traditional, sort of. Nice food, time for catching up and talking lotsa crap and poking fun at each other, nothing beats that man :)

I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete

Oh simple thing where have you gone
I’m getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you’re gonna let me in
I’m getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

So Bored I Went to the Library

Posted on December 12th, 2006 in Daily | 1 Comment »

I got so bored today that I actually went to the library. But before that, I hit the gym with Seb. Good workout today, whacked the cycling machine and some upper body workouts, my left arm almost broke. And so, I went to the library and I actually borrowed 2 books.

  • The Nasty Bits by Anthony Bourdain
  • The Apple Way - 12 Management Lessons from the World’s Most Innovative Company by Jeffrey L. Cruikshank.

Anthony Bourdain is currently one of my fav. celebrity chefs, the other being Jamie Oliver. I was very inspired by Anthony Bourdain after watching his show: No Reservations. If you haven’t watch it, YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE MISSING! WATCH IT! He’s not the usual glamour, clean, fancy, promote-healthy-eating chef. He is in-your-face, no gimmickery, food as the way they should be.

Being an Apple fanboy, long before many of my peers knew of Apple before they introduced the iPods, The Apple Way is a must read book. Basically it reveals the master plan behind Apple’s revolutionary business model, and how it turned a almost dying company to a industry-leading company. It then teaches you how to apply those strategies.

Hope I can finish these 2 books. I hardly finish any book (if I ever borrowed one) haha.

After like 20mins, Seb and I went to check out Ikea Tampines. One word: Big. Besides that, nothing much different from the Alexandra branch. But their Swedish Meatballs are just… wooooooooooooooooooDadelicious!

Happy reading!

Monday

Didn’t do much. Stayed at home and recovering from the hectic and somewhat tiring SITEX. Met up with Ah Kow at Simpang Bedok later in the night. He was emo, and so am I.

Tuesday

Went for my Laser Dermabrasion appointment in the morning. Yeah, I sort of “went under the knife”. The first question the doc asked was, ” What’s your pain threshold?”

That took me aback a little. But the doc later told me it will feel like tiny needles poking. True enough, the Carbon Dioxide laser that he used wasn’t that painful. Felt like tiny needles poking on my face. And it was over in like 10mins. Initially, I wanted to head for the gym, but doc says I should refrain from going under the sun and excessive sweating. Oh well..

Again, I met up with Ah Kow later that night. Had a great chat with him. Emo and non-emo topics included.

Wednesday

Jiak Kim Street Day. While I was preparing for the night, I got a call from iShop. Asking me whether I could work the next day. I’m supposed to setup 96 machines at Maris Stella High School. I took a look at my wallet, no money. I agreed immediately.

It’s been 6 months since I step into that place. But, as usual, it never fails to cheer us up. The gang was great, the music, was strangely very Emo, many hotties, the new breed of Mambo lao-jiaos are hot. Good night out, but my mind and thoughts were some 10,900km away, and still are.

The gang: Zhihao, Kenneth, Mathhew and Kow

The gang with me in it.

Kow’s gone.

Thursday

Barely recovered from yesterday night, I pulled myself out of bed, washed up and headed for work.

Maris Stella is one place which is very ulu, super ulu until even the birds refused to nest there, it’s beside a cemetery and near the Gurkha Contingent Camp.

Yeah, so our job for the day was to unload 96 iMacs from the truck, carry them up 3 levels (no lifts) and set them all up. 4 of us, and we had to finish by 5:30pm. Moving up the iMacs proved to be a great workout, saved me from going to the gym.

Then came the school’s TA. He’s bossy, has very bad work ethics, don’t know what the hell he is doing at times and he’s got a qian bian face. He’s even disliked by the school’s cleaner.

Unpacking 96 iMacs was no fun.. But it made me realised, those guys who are setting up Windows based PCs, their job is 1000x tougher than us. Imagine the amount of cables needed and they even have to carry 2 boxes for every station! For Macs, 1 box, 3 main components (the iMac, keyboard and mouse), 3 main cables (power, keyboard and mouse) and that’s it! But still..No fun.

Lotsa iMacs.

Lotsa remotes.

Surround-View iMac.

Friday

Supposed to meet up with my Cousin to send our Oakleys for servicing, eat some power lunch and maybe catch a movie. And ya, I’ll be collecting my goods from AE! Finally it’s here. I think I’m the only guy I know who spree online hahaha

Keeping myself busy is good, prevents me from thinking too much..
