Roti John King

Weekend supper time. This week, my brother and I went to Simpang Bedok. I’ve always love visiting Simpang Bedok because of its rustic kampong feel. This time round, we went to this shop called Friz Grill @ 89.7 Eating House. The first thing that one of the owners introduced us was the “die die must try” Roti John King. According to him, it’s the best seller there. We ordered one of that, Mee Goreng, Teh Peng and Ice Milo.
Roti John King
It’s not the usual roti john, it’s really the king of roti john. For $4, you get chicken kebhab cuts, minced mutton, melted cheese, lettuce, tomatos, onions and black pepper sauce for the fillings. The roti is then topped with mayonnaise, chilli sauce and thousand island. With every bite, the melted cheese oozes into your mouth. The texture that the various ingredients, especially the chicken kebhab, create is simply amazing. The black pepper sauce adds a nice finishing touch to the whole experience. Usually roti john will come with a special blend of chilli sauce, but the Roti John King has no need for that. It’s very already good on its own.
Mee Goreng
We ordered a $4 portion. The mee itself was good. However, I think the chef cooked the egg separately and he had added a bit too much salt to the egg. In the end, the mee goreng was somewhat too salty.
One more thing…
With around 15 mins more to go for the EPL Liverpool vs Charlton match, 0-0 draw by the way, we decided to get ourselves a Paper Prata ($1.50)! It’s like a perfect dessert to end a great dinner. It’s well made, crispy, not too salty, not too sweet and the fragrance of the condensed milk mixed well with the prata itself. Delicious!
I highly recommend the Roti John King. And also did I mention that their $1.50 Teh Peng is also very good? Though it’s $1.50, it comes in a big glass. The ratio of the teh and milk is just right, shiok! Total amount of well-spent money: $12.50.
